  • Understanding of electrical theory and practical application via your maintenance & operation of critical electrical equipment. (Paralleling switchgear, redundant UPS systems, DC battery strings, multi-source electrical utility switchgear, standby diesel generators, etc.)
  • Knowledge of construction techniques, terminology, and documentation (blueprints, electrical one-lines, construction drawings etc.)
  • Practical experience with building management systems and automation, controls & frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • - Oversees and assures the overall compliance of Microsoft’s Energy Isolation Program and establish acceptance criteria for authorizing campus Energy Isolation Plan.
  • - Implements learnings, provides consistency, and drives rigor into Microsoft’s Energy Isolation program and ensures program meets or exceeds company safety policy requirements.
  • - Utilise local code and standards as the foundation for Microsoft’s Energy Isolation program that is implemented throughout the campus.
  • - Establish with the Engineering team a centralized Lockout Tag Out (LOTO) procedure with all campus entities and determine if a group or individual LOTO procedure will be required.
  • - Commencement of energy isolation activities with updates on a continuous basis.
  • - Liaise with Microsoft construction team where Energy Isolation activities may potentially impact data center core operations.
  • - Act in coordination with the Engineering team as a subject matter expert in all energy isolation incident investigations in area of responsibility.
  • - Participate in high-risk activity (HRA) planning meetings associated with energy isolation.
  • - Ensures high-risk SOWs, SOPs and MOPs are reviewed, and all sources of energy are identified.
  • - Ensure a process is established that verifies qualifications, training, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for personnel performing the work.
  • - Generate monthly reports highlighting activities and general status of energy isolation program.
