Responsibilities

  • Ensures to deliver excellent customer service internally and externally. Accurate and timely document container details via our different processes, including through our designated freight forwarders or filing direct to ACE and Steamship line. Builds and maintains business relationship with clients and suppliers by providing prompt and accurate service.
  • Obtain and review correct classification of HTS (Harmonized Tariff Schedule) Codes related to exporting of goods per orders received.
  • Monitor and maintain shipment status via computer system.
  • Track and trace container details utilizing various methods including steamship line websites, online portals, internal and external systems available.
  • Initiate calls to customers to confirm shipment details and coordinate with truckers for port or rail delivery confirmations as necessary to document containers timely per policies and procedures.
  • Stay current with additional details supplied on governmental changes for filing customs and follow policies.
  • Date Entry Experience Required, Maintain Accuracy.
  • Utilize online classification sites, order details, written procedures or other means to verify.
  • File Customs documents via government portal/ ACE portal thru current system via electronic transfer and any amendments per guidelines.
  • Responsible for all necessary documentation for all shipments to ensure BL submission are recorded accurately per customer requirements.
  • Be aware of working relationships, external and internal to ensure to maintain good positive communication.
  • Keep team members informed of any discrepancies.
  • Project a knowledgeable, enthusiastic, positive attitude that encourages customer and employee confidence and reflects the professional image desired by WM.
  • Attend and contribute to periodic meetings to maintain favorable working relationships among employees and promote maximum morale, productivity and efficiency.
  • Provide timely feedback to direct supervisor regarding service failures, customer complaints or any other matters regarding his/her attention.
  • Provide timely and accurate information to incoming communication from steamship lines and/ or internal teams for resolution.
  • Works to meet or exceed service and operational goals established export department, including productivity, quality, and timeliness goals.
  • Collaborate with sales representatives to meet and exceed customers’ service expectations, and develop solutions to ensure smooth material movement.
  • Perform other special projects and tasks as assigned.
  • May provide direction or support to less experienced team members.
  • Working hours could change slightly depending on time zone supporting. General business hours are 7am to 6pm CST.
