Requirements

Fluently bilingual in both written and oral French is an asset.
Completed a bachelor’s degree majoring in insurance, commerce, business, business administration, economics, finance, statistics, accounting, or mathematics is preferred.
Work experience in insurance or related industry is an asset.
Outstanding customer service and negotiation skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Analytical, logical, organized, and decisive.
Strong interpersonal skills to effectively function in a team environment.
Computer literate in Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

Review and analyze submissions.
Identify and obtain additional information required to conduct a proper analysis of risk including cross-referencing with other departments.
Assess exposure and determine rates, terms, and conditions of coverage in accordance with underwriting guidelines.
Negotiate terms and conditions with brokers.
Authorize transmittal of documents to brokers and markets as required.
Prepare and maintain periodic reports pertinent to the ongoing operation.
Service current accounts.
Develop and maintain an awareness of claims and exposures.
Maintain an awareness of market conditions, profitability initiatives and competitions.
Perform other related duties as requires.
Assist more experienced underwriters with administrative tasks and support.
