AI generated summary

  • You should be a collaborative communicator with 2+ years in data science, skilled in statistics and Python, with experience in ML techniques. A relevant degree is essential; real estate knowledge is a plus.
  • You will analyze data to enhance CRE models, conduct experiments, collaborate on standards, communicate findings, make data-driven recommendations, and document best practices in analytics.

Requirements

  • A collaborative communicator. You can work independently but enjoy collaborating with a broader team to share ideas, questions, and insights regarding data and different modeling approaches.
  • You want to succeed together. You recognize that collaborating with a team helps you scale the positive impact you can have for an organization.
  • A scientist at heart. You are thoughtful and rigorous about modeling methodology and setting standards for exploration and experimentation. You creatively apply existing methodology to new analytical challenges and thrive on asking "What if?" questions.
  • Skilled in statistics/econometrics. You recognize that a simple approach can be the best approach but also have applied experience with statistics/econometric modeling. You are familiar with (or can learn quickly) a range of statistical analysis and machine learning techniques, including hypothesis testing, linear/logistic regression, time series analysis, tree-based models, KNN, neural networks, clustering, and outlier/anomaly detection. Prior experience with NLP, transfer learning and Generative AI is a bonus.
  • Applied-first. You have demonstrated programming proficiency with Python for ML techniques, including feature engineering/selection, model selection, model tuning, and performance measurement.
  • 2+ years of experience working in data science or applied economics, depending on academic background
  • Applied ML or econometrics experience with Python
  • BS or MS degree in Economics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical field
  • Experience with commercial real estate a plus

Responsibilities

  • Advanced analysis: Mining and analyzing data to build and improve analytics and existing CRE performance models.
  • Data science experimentation and testing: Data wrangling, data visualization, feature engineering, model selection, tuning, and enhancement of CRE models and analytics.
  • Setting standards: Collaborating with other Data Scientists to implement processes and tools to monitor and analyze CRE model/analytics performance and accuracy. Work will involve evaluating the use of new internal and external data sets.
  • Communication and Reporting: Communicating complex data science concepts and the value of analytical projects to non-technical stakeholders. Preparing and presenting reports, findings, and recommendations to senior management and other key stakeholders.
  • Translating and making decisions: Translating and summarizing data science experiments to make go/no-go recommendations on the use of new econometrics or ML techniques and new data sets.
  • Documenting best practices: Establishing new modeling approaches as part of the Data & Analytics team at Altus by sharing and documenting best practices based on solid statistical/econometric/ML principles.
