Responsibilities

  • The Detailer’s primary responsibility and accountability includes providing an exceptional and successful customer experience through the meticulous detailing of each vehicle to ensure every client receives a positive first impression upon delivery of their vehicle. The detailer pre-washes vehicles prior to moving them into production, and cleans and details all assigned vehicles prior to final delivery to the customer. The position is also responsible for completing general repair facility cleaning responsibilities while working in alignment with all team members in achieving the repair facilities KPIs. The Detailer is committed to being a dedicated Brand Ambassador of Boyd Autobody & Glass at all times.
  • Provides positive energy when interacting with customers
  • Cleans vehicle exterior by hand, brush or by washing equipment
  • Polish, dry and clean vehicle windshields, windows, lights, mats and exterior body
  • Protects and preserves automobile exterior by buffing, polishing and applying waxes
  • Vacuum, shampoo, add air freshener and clean vehicle interior (some stain removal may be required)
  • Inspect body and refinish repairs for deficiencies that may impact the quality of the delivery process; advise production supervisor as required
  • Accountable for ensuring all required line items as per the Repair Orders (RO) are completed to meet Assured’s quality standards
  • Checks in new vehicles upon arrival for prewash and document prior damages (as required)
  • Determine need for and add windshield fluid, gas, oil, water and antifreeze
  • Perform basic maintenance checks: antenna, under the hood, inside the vehicle, inside the trunk, and outside vehicle
  • Maintains quality service by following Assured quality standards, conducting final inspection and correcting deficiencies
  • Shop is to be kept clean by sweeping and daily emptying of garbage containers
  • Maintain a clean and organized parking lot at all times
  • Power wash the shop floor, (to reduce appearance of dirt) as required
  • Maintain and organize the vehicles in the parking lot daily (incl. keys, floor mats and RO Signs)
  • May be responsible for maintaining an inventory of cleaning supplies
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by Production Supervisor
  • Maintain a clean and orderly production area throughout the workday, ensuring a final clean up at the end of the day
  • Continuously learns new technical information and techniques in formal training session in order to stay updated with rapidly changing automotive technology
  • Works in accordance with daily production schedule (as directed by Production Supervisor)
  • Advise production supervisor of collision repair problems that may have been overlooked that impact the production process
  • Complete the Quality Control(QC) Checklist before moving vehicle to next department
  • Knows status of assigned vehicles and helps problem-solve on getting and keeping all vehicles on schedule for on-time delivery
  • Consistently utilizes all required safety equipment and follows proper refinishing procedures in compliance with Ontario Health & Safety guidelines
  • Adheres to all requirements for hazardous waste disposal
  • Follows vendor procedures to maintain all tools and equipment
  • Supports all team members when required
  • Participate in monthly Health & Safety and staff meeting (if required)
  • Attend training, information sessions and workshops recommended by Store Manager
  • Maintain the Boyd KPI’s (Sales/ GP/ NP/ CSI/ AR/ CT&TT)
