Responsibilities

  • Execute the enterprise risk program functions for the Real Estate Group’s portfolio of investments in North America; gain subject matter proficiency/fluency in focus areas (cybersecurity, data privacy, health and safety, etc.)
  • Coordinate execution of the risk program functions in Brazil with the regional team
  • Conduct risk assessments of investments in the portfolio and recommend risk mitigation; interact directly with investments teams and counterparties on transactions to measure maturity of target company (or operator) risk programs
  • Negotiate representations, warranties and covenants relating to risk management; onboard portfolio companies (i.e., meet with their senior leadership) to discuss risk assessment results and mitigation plans
  • Review quarterly and incident reports, consider trends and assess/manage impacts of incidents on Brookfield, including legal liability analysis and mitigation; ensure that portfolio companies have sufficient emergency response and business continuity plans
  • Facilitate business-driven risk testing for the portfolio
  • Manage bottom-up quarterly risk reporting from portfolio companies, oversee maintenance of the reporting system, review regional submissions and consolidate into global risk report
  • Liaise with regional internal audit team on annual audit planning, audit execution and finding remediation
  • Develop strong relationships with regional risk resources, risk specialists, investments teams, portfolio managers and other stakeholders to facilitate program execution
  • Address emerging risks in the region and support other risk initiatives, as needed
