What qualifications do I need to apply for the Dispensary and Ward Based Pharmacy Technician position?
Applicants must hold the NVQ level 3 in Pharmacy services or an equivalent recognized qualification and must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
Is there an opportunity for career progression in this role?
Yes, there are progression opportunities. Technicians can receive training to become both an Accredited Checking Technician (ACT) and a Ward Based Technician, which allows them to progress to band 5 upon completion of both accreditations.
What band will I start at if I don’t have both ACT and MMT qualifications?
Technicians without both ACT and MMT will be appointed at band 4 and will receive an uplift to band 5 upon completion of the stand-alone ACT and MMT accreditations.
What does the role involve in terms of daily tasks?
The role involves a variety of tasks including labeling, dispensing, checking duties, patient counseling, monitoring workload, managing storerooms, and supporting clinical areas with medication delivery and stock management.
Will I receive training for this position?
Yes, the successful applicant will receive full training to become both an Accredited Checking Technician and a Ward Based Technician.
