Responsibilities

  • Design overhead electrical infrastructure according to client and national standards and requirements. There would also be some underground design as well, however, overhead would be the majority of the work initially.
  • Use SPIDAcalc non-linear pole line analysis tool to evaluate pole design and create non-standard OH Line design solutions.
  • Use of underground cable pulling calculation software to confirm design solutions, such as pull planner.
  • Use load balancing and fuse coordination software for distribution system improvement projects.
  • Provide design for any non-standard/engineered solutions.
  • Prepare design packages for review and submission. Packages to be provided for Pole Replacement/Maintenance, LPT/PMT/Livefront, Feeder Design, Smart Meter, Customer Driven 3rd Party Attachments, Automation and other BC Hydro Programs.
  • Checking and reviewing work of peers
  • Prepare issue for construction packages
  • Coordinating with clients, co-workers, subcontractors, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders
  • Attend project meetings and conduct site inspections and reviews
