Requirements

  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience / Financial Crime experience.
  • Have a detailed operational knowledge and understanding of the UK and EU Payment Institution regulatory and legal requirements regarding financial crime compliance, payments (Payment Services Directive, Payment Services Regulation), industry standards, best practices and business lending is a plus.
  • Experience in translating legislation or legal advice into clear business-focused procedures, guidance and training.
  • Evidence of delivering organisational change to maintain a culture of high-level AML and Sanctions compliance within YouLend.
  • Ability to anticipate and evaluate potential fraud and financial crime risks at a strategic level (including organisational structures, business processes, product design, delivery channels and third-party system providers etc).
  • Relevant professional qualification from an internationally recognised body (e.g., ICA, ACAMS) are advantageous.
  • Experience in presenting to Board, Board Committees and/or Senior Management highly desirable.
  • Skilled in building strong and productive relationships / networks with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in the analysis of qualitative and quantitative data/information, drawing appropriate conclusions and making sound decisions as a result. Evaluate complex information and present analysis with accuracy and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the MLRO in ensuring YouLend operates in accordance with all legal and regulatory requirements relating to : Money Laundering and Countering Terrorist Financing, Sanctions, Tax Evasion, Market Abuse, Bribery & Corruption and Fraud.
  • As subject matter expert, work closely with the first line of defence and YouLend colleagues to review escalations (e.g. Sanctions / PEPs and Adverse media, suspected cases of fraud raised) and where necessary make recommendations in line with YouLend’s AML Policy and Risk Appetite.
  • Enhancing our mechanisms and metrics for financial crime oversight of the second line compliance team. Support a project manager charged with providing management information, reporting, analytics, and system support.
  • Continually refine the second line oversight and monitoring of the control framework included in the compliance monitoring programme and financial crime surveillance technology for customer screening, and transaction monitoring and reporting.
  • Support the MLRO in defining the appropriate lists and rules to be used to screen customers and monitor transactions for suspicious activity.
  • Undertaking special projects as needed on targeted risk issue remediation, taking ownership of specific tasks as delegated by the MLRO or senior management.
  • Advise on Compliance owned Policy interpretation and working with the firm to resolve significant breaches and violations of such policies, and internal and/or external reporting when required.
  • To support risk assessments being conducted including on any new products or current products with a material change.
  • Support delivery of the annual MLRO report.
  • Contributing to or leading awareness-raising and training for the first and second line of defence staff, including formal classroom training, workshop sessions, or informal Q&A sessions.
