What is the primary role of the DOL VETS TAP Employment Facilitator?
The primary role is to assist and prepare transitioning servicemen and women from the military for civilian employment through job assistance workshops, employment counseling, and other support services.
What qualifications are required for this position?
A High School Diploma and 3+ years of experience as a professional trainer or facilitator; or an Associate’s degree, along with relevant experience in private and public sector employment processes.
Is travel required for this role?
Yes, travel up to 25% of the time is required.
What type of audience will the facilitator be working with?
The facilitator will work with transitioning servicemen and women, including Active, Reserve, and National Guard members, their families, and veterans.
How many participants can the facilitator effectively train at once?
The facilitator should be able to provide training to groups with up to 50 participants.
What skills are necessary for effective communication in this role?
The ability to communicate effectively with military clients, engage an audience, respond to inquiries independently, and instruct and speak comfortably in front of a group.
Are there any preferred experiences that would enhance an applicant's candidacy?
Yes, experience providing transitioning servicemembers and veterans with comprehensive understanding of civilian employment preparation, job searching, networking, and technical training opportunities is a desired qualification.
