Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Assists others in analyzing information and data to perform routine or standard structural design and bridge load rating tasks.
  • Assist others in analyzing information and data in preparing designs of complex design or load rating tasks.
  • Assist others in preparing probable cost of construction or other cost estimating tasks.
  • May be asked to participate in non-design engineering activities such as construction inspection and materials testing, surveying, CADD production, and field data collection.
  • Receives instructions from Project Manager or Senior Project Engineers as to the general results expected.
  • Research design options and document findings for Senior Project Engineers.
  • Maintains project database by writing computer programs, entering and backing up data.
  • Research code requirements.
  • Prepare administrative reports required for project permits, inspection findings, load ratings, or other clients’ requirements.
  • Keeps Project Managers and Supervisor informed of workload and any changes in project schedule or scope or additional services.
  • Take part as a member of field crew on structure inspection assignments. Take photos, measurements, and produce inspection sketches.
  • Ability to clearly describe field observations and convey information with sketches and technical writing.
  • Operate personnel lift equipment, climb ladders, install traffic control devices or structural testing elements and other work in support of inspection activities.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies and local industry organizations.
