Requirements

  • Basic understanding of electrical engineering concepts and the ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.
  • Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
  • Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, building program and other similar material.
  • Ability to take direction, follow process and accept feedback and suggestions from senior engineers/designers.
  • Basic understanding of Revit and AutoCAD, and the use of it as a drafting/design tool, is preferred but not required.
  • Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Prefer experience with AGI 32, Visual Lighting Software, SKM, Newforma (but not required).
  • Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical or Architectural Engineering with a lighting/electrical emphasis. Minimum of 0-2 years of experience. Internship experience preferred. Candidate should be working towards or has successfully passed the EIT exam. EIT credentials preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts basic interpretations of drawings, codes, and other similar materials.
  • Creates electrical design documentation for the electrical discipline using knowledge of relevant software programs such as Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Performs engineering calculations to analyze and design individual building electrical system components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.
  • Works with architectural, interior designers, and other engineering disciplines in the coordination of the project under the direction of a senior engineer/ designer.
  • Performs field work as directed by a senior engineer/ designer.
  • Assists with engineering duties on projects of various complexity.
  • Assists with collecting data and gathering information to support design decisions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the senior engineering staff.

What will be my role as an Entry - Level Electrical Designer in this job?

As an Entry - Level Electrical Designer, you will work on tasks and smaller projects with close guidance and supervision. You will also be a team member on larger projects under the guidance of a Senior Engineer/Designer. Your responsibilities will include assisting in evaluating, selecting, specifying, and engineering electrical power, lighting, fire alarm, and other low voltage systems and products for projects while ensuring compliance with codes and internal engineering standards/practices. Additionally, you may be involved in Revit and AutoCAD design, engineering calculations, and field work.
