Requirements

  • The successful candidate must have a bachelor’s degree (or higher) in civil or architectural engineering with a structural emphasis. New graduates receiving degrees at the end of the Fall 2023 term are encouraged to apply.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience with and/or knowledge of the following:
  • Structural engineering coursework including design of concrete, steel, masonry and timber
  • Structural analysis and design in-practice (work experience) including concrete, steel, masonry, and anchorage
  • Design, analysis, and construction methods of water retaining structures and retaining walls using reinforced concrete
  • Construction administration related to structural systems
  • Structural engineering software programs including finite element analysis, CAD, 3D modeling, and production programs (such as RISA-3D, SAP2000, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Revit, SolidWorks, and Bluebeam Revu)
  • Structural engineering Codes and Standards
  • Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
  • Familiarity with in-house calculation tools including spreadsheets (MS Excel)

Responsibilities

  • Responsibilities include assisting with the structural design of water resource structures and other structural engineering projects; evaluating and analyzing existing structures; preparing structural plans and specifications for bidding and construction; preparing formatted structural calculation packages; writing technical reports; and participating in site visits. A valid driver’s license and some travel will be required.
