Description
- As a graduate structural engineer at Ramboll, you will be involved in some of the UK’s most innovative and intricate projects. Each day as a graduate will offer new opportunities and challenges, ensuring no two days feel the same. You will be involved in the design and delivery of buildings, including the component parts of the structure, as well as monitoring the implementation of the design throughout the entire project lifecycle, from initial concepts to visits on site.
- As a graduate structural engineer in Southampton, you will be part of a talented, fun and diverse team in Southampton working on a range of structures including healthcare, higher education, stations and heritage. Current examples of the some of the exciting projects being delivered from the Southampton office include the Sport and Wellness extension to the Jubilee Sports centre at the University of Southampton, the new Emergency Department at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth and various railway station upgrades for both Transport for London and Network Rail.

Requirements

- A BEng, MEng or MSc level degree in a relevant engineering subject
- Some experience in the design of buildings and associated infrastructure, and an active curiosity around primary construction materials (steel, concrete and/or timber) and emerging / innovative materials.
- Demonstrable aptitude to learn computer programming languages and complex data manipulation and processing
- Ability to summarise and present complex engineering concepts via different channels
- An interest in Digital Automation and Optimisation
- Understanding and application of sustainable design practices

- Contribute to the overall design and delivery of buildings, including the component parts of the structure
- Identify opportunities for digital automation and/or optimisation of building systems, interfaces and /or their components parts
- Develop digital tools and approaches to leverage these opportunities
- Translate complex engineering concepts and solutions into presentations, reports, sketches, drawings and infographics that communicate their essence and demonstrate their value to our clients and key stakeholders
- Learn to identify potential health & safety, design, sustainability and commercial risks on our projects and contribute towards mitigating them
- Monitor the implementation of design throughout the entire project lifecycle, from initial concepts to visits on site
- Proactively pursue continuous professional development including working towards chartership with a recognised institution
