Requirements

  • Qualifications include advanced education and/or professional experience and expertise supporting pre-service teachers in their professional development.
  • The successful candidate must have the ability and interest to teach courses in Indigenous Education and related fields and possess the ability to teach in and contribute to the Bachelor of Education program(s).
  • The lived experience of the applicant is expected to reflect kinship and relationships within the Blackfoot confederacy including responsibilities to family, community, land and broader nation.
  • The applicant should also be claimed by a living community that is recognized by the broader nation.
  • The ability to teach in online, face-to-face, and blended formats, and the ability to integrate innovative technology into teaching will be an asset for this position.
  • As a destination university, prospective applicants are expected to relocate to Lethbridge, Alberta to support students and actively engage in our university culture.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
  • strategies for effective implementation of Blackfoot and other Indigenous perspectives through curriculum and pedagogy in classroom settings
  • alignment of educational resources and policy frameworks with Blackfoot and other Indigenous perspectives to enhance teaching and learning experiences.

Responsibilities

  • The individual should be an experienced educator and collaborative colleague for one fulltime instructor position (two-year term with the possibility of conversion). Academic duties include planning and teaching undergraduate courses, supervision of individual undergraduate students in a school setting, and assessment of student work; other contributions to the University and scholarly communities.
