AI generated summary
- Degree in a related field (e.g. Architecture, Engineering, Sociology), passion for inclusive design, curiosity, ability to collaborate and communicate effectively.
- As a Graduate Building Performance Consultant at Arup, you will be responsible for delivering professional services and working with a range of high-profile clients. You will have increasing levels of responsibility as you gain experience and skills, including learning about and applying inclusive design principles, conducting research, and attending courses and conferences.
Description
- We are looking for Inclusive Design Consultants to join our Access and Inclusive Environments discipline. Our Access and Inclusive Environments team's inclusive approach includes close working with design teams to identify inclusive solutions, consultation and engagement with user groups, as well as reference to ongoing research and industry-related guidance papers that provide good practice.
- Inclusive design reflects the diversity of our communities and allows people to experience and access buildings and facilities in an equal manner – so if the ramp is at the back of the building, away from the entrance, then this is not inclusive. An automatic sliding door that allows everyone to access the building through the same entry point is inclusive. Lack of faith facilities, or toilets for diverse gender identities means that diversity will not be accommodated within the space. Our input helps to identify barriers, and to work with the design team to maximise opportunities for inclusion.

- The most important quality for this role is that you are passionate about accessibility and inclusive design in the built environment.
- We're looking for people who are curious and ready to evolve how you think and work. Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas. At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – in which we encourage individuality to thrive. If you can share your knowledge and ideas and encourage others to do the same; whilst having a desire to deliver excellent services for clients – we'd like to hear from you.
