Description
- AECOM is seeking a highly motivated Graduate Civil/Geotechnical Engineer to support geotechnical, civil infrastructure, and mine tailings projects as part of the Mining group in Denver, Colorado or Murray, Utah . The position will involve working on mine tailings dam and water dam projects to conduct geotechnical investigations and analyses.
- This position is expected to begin in January or May 2024.
Requirements
- Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering Geology.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- EIT Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License preferred to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices when public transportation is not available. The selected candidate will undergo a Motor Vehicle Records review.
- Masters Degree in Civil Engineering with Geotechnical Emphasis.
- Basic Knowledge of industry software such as GeoStudio, Utexas, Grapher, AutoCAD, and Civil3D.
- Field, construction, and/or dams experience.
- Familiarity with design reports, drawings, and specifications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrate proactive problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain organization in a changing environment.
- Exhibits initiative, responsibility, and flexibility.
- Resourceful, highly organized, and detail-oriented.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.

- Additional Information:
- Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
- We are interested in every qualified candidate eligible to work in the United States. Permanent residency sponsorship is available for current H1-B visa holders in the United States.
- Travel of 15% is required for this position.

Responsibilities
- Planning, implementing, and overseeing geotechnical exploration programs.
- Assisting with laboratory testing assignments.
- Performing geotechnical evaluations including material characterization, liquefaction, seepage, slope stability, and settlement analyses.
- Preparing calculation packages.
- Assisting with the development of geotechnical reports, drawings, and specifications.
- Preparing and presenting technical presentations of evaluation results to the internal team.
- Review geotechnical instrumentation and assist with the preparation of instrumentation monitoring reports.
