Requirements

  • Four year degree in Landscape Architecture or related field.
  • 0-3 years of professional experience (Master’s Degree may substitute for 2 years of experience).
  • Computer skills including AutoCAD, Sketch-up, 3DS Max, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, In-design), Microsoft Word, MS Excel, and Geographic Information System (GIS).
  • Strong freehand illustration and computer rendering skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and a strong work ethic.
  • Handle multiple priorities well.
  • Portfolio or work samples will be required if considered for an interview.
  • Preferred Experience:
  • Working toward or desire to gain license for Landscape Architecture and/or Licensed Irrigator.
  • Wokring toward or gained sustainability credential (LEED and/or ENVISION)

Responsibilities

  • Work with the senior landscape architect to build increasing skills to review and interpret regulatory codes, ordinances, and comprehensive plans.
  • Review and analyze land features relating to opportunities and constraints for development.
  • Work with the senior landscape architect to build increasing skills to prepare planting and landscape plans, irrigation design plans, and graphic illustrations using both digital and hand drawn formats.
  • Work with senior landscape architects to develop and refine design solutions.
  • Use in depth knowledge of woody and herbaceous plant materials in preparing irrigation, planting and landscape plans.
  • Increasing responsibility to participate in project meetings with staff, clients, & regulatory agencies.
  • Assist in editing technical plans, details, and specifications.
  • Visit construction sites to gather information, review design intent, inform and support senior project team members during the construction phase.
  • Consult with product manufacturers, evaluate and select construction materials.
  • Use in depth knowledge of entitlement procedures and required regulatory approvals.
