Requirements

  • Essential:
  • Achieved, or be on course to achieve, a minimum 2:1 degree in a relevant field of study
  • Have the right to live and work in the UK at the time of starting employment
  • Good knowledge of Mechanical Building Services
  • Good inter-personal skills, particularly in communication, negotiating networking and team building, motivation and problem solving
  • Good knowledge of Mechanical Building Services Design and standards including CIBSE Guides
  • Excellent numeracy skills
  • Good ICT skills, including MS Office and AutoCAD
  • Good time management skills
  • Able to work well within a team but also show excellent initiative alone and work independently
  • Desirable:
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations, especially fire, asbestos and CDM regulations
  • Post qualification experience of Mechanical Building Services Design
  • Commercial awareness
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary design office
  • Use of Mechanical Building Services Design software i.e IES VE and AutoCAD

  • As a graduate within our Design and Construction team, you become an integral part of this multidisciplinary collective. This experience offers insights that go beyond traditional construction, thanks to close collaboration with our wider STFC team, including scientists and researchers.   • Overall you will:
  • Prepare Mechanical Building Services Designs, estimates, specifications and tender documents relating to Projects at RAL
  • Assist in the coordination of contractor works with building user operations, ensuring that CDM requirements and other site standards/policies are implemented
  • Proactively and strategically plan project construction activities to avoid impacting upon the scientific programme
  • Liaise with the client to interpret and define project requirements, scope and budget
  • Ensure the Users acceptance and sign off the completion of Design
