  • This opportunity will be responsible for supporting the design and delivery of the Estates Mechanical Building Services Projects and to include overseeing the successful delivery of assigned works to programme and within allocated budget. 
  • The graduate will engage with and consult with RAL customers regarding projects, including the “brief”, interpretation of requirements and preparation of specifications, management through the project management office, and working closely with the estates teams and other specialists.
  • This role will also take on some design lead responsibilities for projects, and managing externally appointed professional teams and contractors.

  • Essential:
  • Achieved, or be on course to achieve, a minimum 2:1 degree in a relevant field of study
  • Have the right to live and work in the UK at the time of starting employment
  • Good knowledge of Mechanical Building Services
  • Good inter-personal skills, particularly in communication, negotiating networking and team building, motivation and problem solving
  • Good knowledge of Mechanical Building Services Design and standards including CIBSE Guides
  • Excellent numeracy skills
  • Good ICT skills, including MS Office and AutoCAD
  • Good time management skills
  • Able to work well within a team but also show excellent initiative alone and work independently
  • Desirable:
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations, especially fire, asbestos and CDM regulations
  • Post qualification experience of Mechanical Building Services Design

  • Proactively and strategically plan project construction activities to avoid impacting upon the scientific programme
  • Liaise with the client to interpret and define project requirements, scope and budget
  • Ensure the Users acceptance and sign off the completion of Design
