  • Scientific or technical degree, or equivalent experience
  • Some experience in software development, using Python, Java or .Net (or related technologies)
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken word with an ability to successfully engage with team members and clients
  • Problem solving and analytical skills
  • Willingness to continually learn
  • An interest in future technologies
  • Some understanding of the software development lifecycle, including Agile methodologies, is desirable but not essential.


  • For the first 12-18 months, you will be predominantly concentrating on developing your skills in software development.
  • Responsible for aiding the design for new systems and solutions for implementation into live service delivery.
  • Working closely with clients to understand their needs.
  • Being part of a larger team - working and learning from senior architects within the team.
  • Regular communication with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Helping to develop technical reports and providing support for bids on new projects.
  • Helping with internal applications or other work when possible.


What are the main responsibilities of a Graduate Technical Consultant?

A Graduate Technical Consultant will support the Technology Consulting Practice team on projects for private and public sector clients, assisting in the design of bespoke business solutions for implementation. They will work across all areas of the development lifecycle, from strategy to development to implementation, and take on assignments in different sectors to build a broad base of experience.

What kind of experience and skills are required for this role?

Candidates for the Graduate Technical Consultant role should have a broad knowledge base and some experience in all areas of technology consulting, with specialist knowledge in one or two areas. They should be open to trying different roles on different projects, working closely with clients to deliver great outcomes. Travel to different locations may be required based on client needs.

How long will a Graduate Technical Consultant typically work on a project?

Graduate Technical Consultants will typically work on a particular project for 6-12 months before moving on to a new challenge. They will be part of a larger team, working with and receiving on-the-job support from senior consultants. This rotation allows for a breadth of experience and the opportunity to try different roles before deciding on a chosen specialization.
