  • Non-violent Crisis Intervention preferred
  • Relevant first aid, first responder training i.e. St. John Ambulance course, HS lifeguard certificate, an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to deal with patients/clients, hospital staff, public and referral sources
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Responsibilities

  • The Health Support Aide plays an important role within the health care team and will work in the Emergency Department waiting rooms to check on and talk to patients, bring them blankets and food, and make them more comfortable.
  • They will also be responsible for communicating to staff when patient support arrives.
  • Health Support Aides will also direct patients to appropriate waiting areas as directed by licensed staff.
