Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates an understanding of patient confidentiality to protect the patient and clinic/corporation.
  • Assists in covering both Imaging Authorization Specialists and Imaging Scheduler – Internal site locations when other employees are not in the office.
  • When fully staffed, this position will be assisting with any authorization or scheduling reports as needed to maintain policy standards at the direction of the Team Lead.
  • Confirms, cancels and/or reschedules patient imaging appointments as needed.
  • Runs imaging order report from OncoEMR and addresses all orders of the daily assigned location in a clear, concise, and timely manner.
  • Obtains and enters all imaging and facility authorizations in computer systems.
  • Performs Eligibility & Verification checks to determine active insurance plans are on file and up to date.
  • Answers incoming calls and emails from all locations in a timely manner.
  • Notates the patient account of any pertinent information relating to imaging and facility authorizations daily.
  • Needs to be able to effectively and professionally communicate to the location staff and patients of any authorization issues that arise.
  • Reviews medical policies for diagnosis guidelines.
  • Providing all pertinent clinical information to the insurance companies when requesting imaging exams via phone call or internet attachment.
  • Reviews all ICD-10 and Drug Codes codes to ensure they are payable and pertinent for the imaging exam requested.
  • Authorizes Blood Transfusion request for local area hospitals.
  • Assist in training new employees when needed.
  • All other duties as assigned.
