Requirements

  • Graduate of a Registered Nurse program or recognized equivalent required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) or other applicable degree required.
  • Combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) is required.
  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.
  • Must have between three to five years of recent, relevant, related clinical experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in an organization of a significant size, complexity, and diversity.
  • Demonstrated ability to support, and advocate for diversity, inclusion, and cultural sensitivity.
  • Maintains confidentiality.
  • Must be proficient working in a computerized environment including MS Office Suite.
  • Must be flexible, tactful with a positive reinforcement style and excellent conflict resolution skills.
  • Must have very good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must be self-motivated, self-directed and able to implement resolutions; must have excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to travel between various sites/locations; and may require the use of a personal vehicle.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years’ recent previous experience as a Clinical Educator is preferred.
  • A certificate in adult education is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • The Instructor's primary role is to ensure the delivery of quality patient care and excellence in nursing.
  • Exercising adult principles of learning, the Instructor will design, enhance and provide staff orientation, education, clinical consultation, development, and/or evaluation.
  • The Instructor's nursing practice will reflect a current, broad knowledge base, and excellent nursing skills that enable her/him to function as a role model and support staff in accordance with Covenant Health's Mission, Vision, and Values.
  • The Instructor will function independently in formal and informal learning environments.
