  • Commercial law experience, with a focus on intellectual property.
  • Ability to work independently and escalating issues where required.
  • An interest in the media / film and television.
  • Understanding of the breakdown of rights in television or films.
  • A team player and effective communicator, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise a varied workload to meet deadlines.
  • Able to apply critical thinking, resolve problems under pressure and make accurate assessments of critical issues.
  • Positive attitude and interest in learning and growing skills in the role.
  • Other things we’re looking for (key criteria)
  • A background in either television or film licensing, commercial contracts or intellectual property.
  • Previous in-house experience would be an advantage.


  • Drafting, negotiating and advising on agreements for acquisition of rights in television programmes and formats (‘rights-in’) both scripted and non-scripted from producers globally.
  • Establishing relationships with external producers and the relevant internal team members in Global Content with a view to developing close working relationships and an understanding of the commercial and legal issues concerned.
  • Assisting with and undertaking any other activities within the department as reasonably required (such as amendment letters).
  • Advising on chain of title to establish the company’s rights position in programmes.
  • Advising on related rights issues, programme information, materials availability, etc. in relation to the above.
  • Attending departmental and interdepartmental meetings to discuss departmental and company objectives, commercial and legal issues relating to the business division and the company.
  • Attending routine meetings with line manager to discuss workload, ongoing negotiations and issues arising therefrom and deals concluded, including any contentious matters arising and their progress to resolution.
