  • 1. Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant field
  • 2. Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of the English legal system, data protection requirements and professional standards applicable to legal service providers
  • 3. Experience of managing a small team
  • 4. Experience of working in a university environment, in particular a student law clinic, or Law Centre/CAB or other Pro Bono sector
  • 5. Experience of project management and implementation, including gaining support, assembling teams, building relationships with internal and external stakeholders and managing delivery expectations.
  • 6. Experience of working with students and/or legal volunteers and/or members of the public in relation to legal issues.
  • 7. Extensive knowledge of using Microsoft packages (including Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook) and legal case management systems.
  • 8. Excellent organisational and time management skills; ability to prioritise and meet multiple deadlines.
  • 9. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • 1. Legal or management qualification (e.g Solicitor, CILEX, CMI)
  • 2. A genuine commitment to access to justice and social justice.

Responsibilities

  • The Legal Clinic Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operational management of King’s Legal Clinic (‘the Clinic’), under the direction of the Clinic Director and Assistant Director.
  • The Legal Clinic Manager has line management responsibility for the Legal Clinic Coordinator and Legal Clinic Administrator.
  • Daily Clinic activities include; supervising students in the processing of potential client enquiries across the in-house Legal clinics; suitability and conflict checks with law firm partners; allocation of cases to student advisors and internal and external supervisors; delivery and organisation of the Clinic’s research and justice projects and training program.
  • The Legal Clinic Manager is responsible for ensuring the Clinic works smoothly, efficiently and is a positive learning environment and workplace for students and Clinic staff.
