  • Experience in administrative assistance, communications, customer service, public relations, or other relevant experience in a volunteer or professional capacity
  • Experience working for an elected official, executive, or director or on a campaign
  • Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and accomplish objectives with minimal supervision or oversight

Responsibilities

  • Assume primary responsibility for administrative and scheduling support to the Councilmember, including by maintaining and managing the Councilmember’s calendar, scheduling, organizing, and coordinating meetings and appointments between the Councilmember and other stakeholders, and other secondary duties, as assigned, can include establishing office systems and procedures, data entry, and assist with preparing responses to public records requests in the Councilmember's office.
  • Assist with screening, prioritizing, and responding to incoming correspondence and communications in a timely manner, including emails, phone calls, and mail.
  • Facilitate effective communication within City Departments and with external stakeholders, including constituents, residents, and government departments in other jurisdictions.
  • Attend community meetings with or on behalf of the Councilmember.
  • Provide professional, service-oriented connections with members of the public, other City Councilmembers and offices, and City Departments.
  • Maintain and organize physical and electronic files, ensuring accessibility and easy retrieval.
