  • Required Qualifications:
  • Graduate of a Practical Nursing program or recognized equivalent required.
  • Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) required.
  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.
  • Additional Required Qualifications:
  • Recent experience within the last 2 years in a high-volume, Urban Emergency department OR Recent ICU/CCU experience OR Two years Medical/Surgical/Labor and Delivery experience required.
  • Excellent assessment and organizational skills required.
  • In this position, you will be on your feet for an extended period of time (both walking and standing), and you must be able to assist in transporting, lifting and positioning of patients.
  • You will also be required to bend, lift, push, and pull equipment.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Preference will be given to those with one or more of the following certifications: ACLS, TNCC, ENPC, PALS, and EPIC.
  • Experience and ability to work with cardiac monitors preferred.
  • Dysrhythmia recognition and interpretation of ECG’s preferred.
  • Experience with Connect Care EHR an asset.

Responsibilities

  • - The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team, collaborating on the delivery of holistic, comprehensive care and support to patients/residents and families.
  • - The LPN must be able to team lead effectively on their own.
  • - The LPN works to the full scope of practice in providing safe, quality care in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health.
