Requirements

  • Graduate of a Practical Nursing program or recognized equivalent required.
  • Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) required.
  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.
  • Emergency experience required (Note: Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered).
  • This position requires you be on your feet for an extended period (walking and standing), and you must be able to assist in transporting, lifting and positioning of patients.
  • You will also be required to bend, lift, push, and pull.
  • Advanced practice courses (ACLS, PALS, etc.) preferred.
  • Intravenous (IV) certification preferred (required upon hire).
  • Connect Care EHR/ EPIC and ENPEP training preferred (required upon hire).
  • CLPNA Restricted Activities Modules: Administering Diagnostic Imaging Contrast Agents, Fetal Heart Monitoring, Non-Ionizing Radiation, Administering Blood and Blood Products: Transfusion, Dispending of Medications and Immunization preferred (required upon hire).

Responsibilities

  • The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team, collaborating on the delivery of holistic, comprehensive care and support to patients/residents and families.
  • The LPN must be able to team lead effectively on their own.
  • The LPN works to the full scope of practice in providing safe, quality care in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health.
