Requirements

  • Applicants must have three (3) years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, paid professional administrative experience.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with experience working in a mailroom and direct experience processing mail on the mechanical equipment listed above.
  • The Incumbent will need to have a working knowledge with general USPS Regulations, and must have knowledge of end experience with presorting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications and Google Suite.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the Job.
  • Ability to work with outside mail vendors to ensure pickup of daily mail is done according to the department practices and procedures.
  • The Job requires moving and lifting of up to 50Ibs, of mail, boxes of forms, paper, envelopes, brochures, etc.
  • Must have and maintain a current, valid MA driver's license and a good driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures the processing and sorting of Incoming mail to the mailboxes of Departments, while adhering to appropriate safety and security standards.
  • Ensures that the many facets of processing the outgoing mail is properly scheduled, and operates modern computerized and mechanical mailing equipment to fold, insert, presort, meter, stack in trays, strap, end label mail.
  • Communicates with the US Postal Service relative to pick up, delivery, satisfaction of Postal regulations, billing, and other information related to the processing of the mail.
  • Advises Departmental employees on the use of special class mail, such as certified, registered, express, international mail, etc., and processes this mail.
  • Performs the following tasks on the designated equipment: metering mail on Pitney Bowes Paragon Mailing Machines, folding documents on a Pitney F70D Folding Machine, inserting mail on a Pitney Bowes Series 7 Inserter, operating a Pitney Bowes Series 8 Inserter with Windows NT environment that has capabilities for inserting, presorting, intelligent sorting of attachments, scanning, marking of tray breaks by zip code, performs business tasks on a Pitney Bowes Accutrac Accounting System that operates In a Microsoft environment to account for and bill all Departments.
  • Performs related work as required.
