Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 6+ Years economic development practitioner, consulting, or similar experience with that experience including recent data center transactional experience and subject matter expertise within a corporate organization, law firm, legal department, accounting firm, consultancy or government agency.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Deep experience dealing with corporate business leaders, high level government officials, and external stakeholders.
  • Experience leading and managing a team and third-party vendors, contractors, and advisors.
  • Demonstrated track record of success in developing successful partnerships with all levels of economic development agencies, governments, and other public and private stakeholder groups.
  • Significant experience in managing economic development issues for large scale expansion and construction projects to include managing a portfolio of incentives, concessions, and agreements.
  • MBA, JD with active state bar admission, CPA, or other recognized professional accreditation or certification.
  • Experience in tax related incentives, concessions, and agreements.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including experience making presentations in public forums.
  • Previous corporate real estate experience a plus.
  • Public policy and government affairs experience.
  • Experience collaborating with strategic communication teams.
  • Experience supporting economic and fiscal impact analyses with the ability to effectively articulate the unique and positive impacts of economic development projects.
  • Ability to travel globally on a recurring basis.

Responsibilities

  • Seamlessly collaborate with internal customers including business development, real estate, legal, tax, finance, HR, and PR teams, among others
  • Effectively communicate the scope and benefits of AWS investments to external stakeholders at all levels and across disciplines.
  • Provide direct support to expansions projects, from site identification, due diligence, business case development, infrastructure assessment, sustainability, and incentive related deal structures and agreements.
  • Experience in business case development, analysis, and presentation.
  • Ownership of east coast portfolio from negotiation, forecasting benefit, commitment articulation, realization, and tracking. This often includes managing relationships with outside legal counsel and other professional service providers.
  • Craft and facilitate collaborative educational and work force development plans leveraging a wide array of internal stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong written and verbal communicator with bar raising attention to detail.
  • You will need to be able to work independently in a constantly changing and often ambiguous environment exhibiting high judgement.
