Requirements

  • You’ll have a minimum of a 2:2 BEng in one of the following disciplines; Hydrographic Surveying and Geotechnical, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Nautical College, Subsea Engineering, Construction Management, or Naval Architecture.
  • We'd love you to have some practical work or project experience that reflects your passion for the energy sector, as well as demonstrable experience of working in a team. You'll also be comfortable working to and setting stretching individual targets and using your own initiative to overcome challenges and should have a genuine interest in SSE and the prospect of a long-term future with us.

Responsibilities

  • Our Transmission Marine and Engineering teams provide critical support to the development and delivery of the transmission link projects to connect each of Scotland’s major island groups - Shetland, Orkney, and the Western Isles, as well as “boot-strap” connections between North and South of UK mainland, such as the East Coast High-voltage direct current (HVDC) projects.
  • The Marine Function was established to provide marine operations and construction expertise to the business through the development of the necessary disciplines and centralising multidisciplinary technical expertise from different departments within SSEN Transmission and, in doing so, supporting and overseeing all marine-based activity across a wide portfolio of projects. Expertise within the Marine Function covers Safety, Construction, Installation Engineering, Marine Management, Survey (Geophysical and Geotechnical) and Consenting. We act as the marine subject matter experts across the Transmission business and are establishing ourselves as a competent offshore transmission operator within the Energy Sector.
