  • Use of analytical and mechanical test methods to characterise and assess the behaviour of metals and coatings.
  • Experience in micro-structural and compositional assessment via optical and scanning electron microscopy.

Responsibilities

  • Key Accountabilities (Duties)
  • - Work closely with the Head of Materials Science, taking a leading role in metallics development activities, covering (but not restricted to): Materials selection, Technical development and deployment of new or existing materials and processes, Routine test support, Development of novel testing methodology, Specification and SOP writing, Deployment of information to the wider design and manufacturing communities, Identification and implementation of cost reduction strategies, Process streamlining, Failure investigations (in-service, testing, or in production), Advising on the H&S requirements associated with metals and coatings, Provide expert guidance to the Team in metals and coatings selection, processing, and detailed design considerations, Identify areas of commonality between the materials activities of F1 and Applied Science, allowing knowledge transfer to Applied Science to strengthen our activities in our commercial programmes, Liaise with internal and external manufacturing facilities when required, Drive materials and process innovation based on the future needs of the business, Manage, plan, and deliver materials-based projects as directed, adhering to strict project timelines, Build and maintain strong relationships between various internal departments within MGP during the execution of their duties.
