  • Moffatt & Nichol specializes in large complex waterfront infrastructure projects and is recognized as one of the worldwide leaders in this field. We are actively looking for an entry level Mechanical Engineer to join our Long Beach, CA office. The entry level Mechanical Engineer supports engineering work involving design, construction, and execution of mechanical projects. Assists during the inspection and research to ensure adherence to law and the standards of good engineering practices.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; required
  • 0-2 Years of experience in Mechanical Engineering
  • Acknowledgement in developing equipment specification, calculation, data sheets, drawings reviews and other documents related to the mechanical design
  • Design experience in industrial complex and / or marine terminals; preferred
  • General understanding of process design, process flow diagram development, and piping and instrumentation diagram (P&ID) development
  • Experience in piping design and other mechanical equipment; 3D design development experience a plus (Plant 3D, Revit, Civil 3D, etc.)
  • Some planning and task management skills; preferred
  • AutoCAD or computer aiding drafting experience
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171

Area of Responsibilities



  • Perform 3D modelling and analysis of mechanical systems
  • Prepare design documents (plans and specifications) with an emphasis in utility service design
  • Engineer and design mechanical portions of waterfront facilities such as marinas, container terminals, marine oil terminals, and pump stations (sewer and storm water)
  • Conduct 3D model reviews, clash checks and interdisciplinary reviews of developed drawing packages
  • Participate in and conduct quality control reviews of deliverables
