Requirements

  • Minimum of three (3) years recent clinical experience in HIV, STI and Hepatitis C care required
  • Recent Ambulatory experience required
  • Expertise in Chronic disease management
  • Experience in electronic medical records and working knowledge of medical charting system
  • Graduate of an approved Registered Nursing or Registered Psychiatric Nursing (Mental Health) education program required
  • BN or BScMH or PScPN preferred
  • Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred
  • Successful completion of a relevant post-basic program may be required or preferred in a designated area
  • Lean Training an asset
  • Current registration or eligibility for registration with College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM) required
  • Active participation in professional associations e.g. Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred
  • CPR at the Targeted Responder Level required
  • Scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions and values
  • Commitment to care through a family centered nursing approach
  • Advanced clinical knowledge in subspecialty
  • Commitment to maintaining current knowledge in area of expertise through reviewing literature and attending continuing education inservices, workshops and conferences
  • Expertise and competence in nursing practice, interviewing, counselling, teaching and group dynamics
  • Ability to work independently but collaboratively with patients, families and multidisciplinary team members
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with referring physicians and nurses and community members
  • Displays initiative, accountability, good time management, decision-making ability, leadership and strong organizational skills
  • Knowledge and skills in research and quality assurance
  • Proficient with computers, software programs, and applications such as Windows and Word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
  • Moderate to heavy physical effort required

Responsibilities

  • - Under the general direction of the Manager, Health Services, the incumbent functions as a pivotal member of the multidisciplinary team to coordinate and provide clinical management to patients with complex health issues within the defined patient population and acts as a resource person to other healthcare professionals and to the community.
  • - The Nurse Clinician utilizes advanced skills and knowledge and performs at a high level of independence as a clinical practitioner, leader, consultant and educator.
  • - Practices are in accordance with employer policy and professional standards.
  • - The Nurse Clinician supports families in Manitoba, Northwestern Ontario, Nunavut and Saskatchewan as required.

Health Sciences Centre Winnipeg is a Shared Health facility, and Manitoba’s provincial tertiary centre for trauma, transplants, burns, neurosciences, complex cancer care and pediatric care. Located on over 32 acres of land in central Winnipeg and serving residents of Manitoba, Northwestern Ontario, and Nunavut, it is the province’s largest health-care facility, and a major referral centre for complex health problems.
