Requirements

  • Successful completion of a graduate degree in nursing with a Nurse Practitioner component and the clinical specialty of pediatrics or a recognized equivalent graduate program.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizing and demonstrating advanced knowledge and decision-making skills to conduct comprehensive assessments, diagnose, and manage the clinical care of children requiring care.
  • Triage consults with MD identifying patients for appropriate multi-discipline team members.
  • Phone follow-up and virtual sessions with patients and families.
  • In-person/virtual clinics focusing on specific populations e.g., ADHD, behavior, mental health, growth, bowel, and bladder follow-up.
  • Practicing within an approved Collaborative Practice Agreement.
  • Developing, promoting, and maintaining interdisciplinary collaboration in a team environment.
  • Working in partnership with nurses and other disciplines to provide holistic patient/family-centered care and advance the practice of pediatric nursing.
  • Participating in planning and implementing change related to clinical, educational, and research issues.
  • Participating in policy and procedure development related to pediatrics.
  • Providing leadership and modeling of behavior related to nursing practice issues, through the role components of clinician, educator, consultant, and researcher.
  • Promoting communication among nursing and other health disciplines in the care of the patient and family in the IWK Health Centre and the community.
