Accepted qualifications include a valid PSW certificate, an RN or RPN designation, completion of two clinical placements for nursing students, a valid Developmental Support Worker certificate, or being a foreign-trained healthcare professional – Nurse.
Are there any requirements regarding certifications?
Yes, you need to have a current CPR Certificate level C, a current immunization record, and a current vulnerable sector check screening upon hire.
Is there support for continuing education?
Yes, SE Health provides education bursaries, tuition assistance programs, and professional development to support lifelong learning.
Do Personal Support Workers need to travel for their jobs?
Yes, Personal Support Workers need a valid driver’s license and vehicle, as mileage and travel time are covered by SE Health.
What is the Return of Service (ROS) program?
The Return of Service program offers $10,000 to recent PSW graduates in exchange for a 12-month commitment to work full-time in a long-term care home or within the community.
What is the work schedule for a Personal Support Worker?
PSWs should be available to work days or evenings, including weekends.
Is COVID-19 vaccination mandatory for employees?
Yes, SE Health requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to ensure the health and safety of patients, clients, and staff.
