Responsibilities

  • Work with Microsoft to design, manage and support High Availability, Reliability, Backup/Restore, GEO redundancy and Disaster Recovery scenarios
  • Perform performance analysis, review parameters and tune / optimize SQL queries. Work closely with application teams to create database objects to ensure performance optimization.
  • Write or Tune SQL queries, review data model and structures and provide recommendation for database table structures.
  • Write KQL queries, Query store, Intelligent tuning, and query stats, stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views. Identify potential issues in database and SQL issues to solve them early.
  • Analyze and coordinate with application development teams fixing technical SQL problems.
  • Setup and perform Backup/restore/recovery. Setup Read Replica, perform failover and failback PostgreSQL between zones and regions.
  • Plan and coordinate with Microsoft for data backups, DR restore/recovery and setup vendor escalation procedures.
  • Troubleshot and fix database and SQL performance slowness
  • Provide 24 x 7 operation and on-call production support
