Responsibilities

  • Determine the base electrical site layout for a project covering adoptable and private assets, accounting for the need to bring external services / connections to each item of plant or equipment.
  • Demonstrate a sound understanding of typical engineering documents such as, but not limited to, ENATS 41-24, NGTS RES i3, NGTS 3.02.014 RES, NGTS 2.01 RES, NGTS 1, NGTS 3.01.02, BS 50522, BS7430 and a demonstrable working understanding of G81 standards and DNO’s approved equipment registers.
  • Contribute to the production of specifications for major items of plant and equipment such as disconnectors, CT’s, VT’s, SA’s, PI’s and for more complex items such as circuit breakers.
  • Design of equipment support structures for AIS electrical equipment from 66kV to 400kV to convey requirements to the manufacturer and review / approve manufacturers drawings.
  • Produce bus bar calculations (short circuit forces / wind / ice loading) to determine the most appropriate busbar size and support requirements.
  • Produce earthing layouts for sites at all voltage levels from first principles that can be verified by the earthing designer.
  • Produce site wide ducting / cabling layout drawings, coordinating requirements with other engineering disciplines. The candidate should have a working knowledge of cable types and installation techniques from 11kV to 132kV and ideally up to 400kV.
