Responsibilities

  • Manages communicated stakeholder expectations on what functionality the product will have and how the product will be released to the end user community.
  • Frequently shares the product vision with the team.
  • Makes decisions throughout the development of the product and is ultimately the final decision maker on the functionality of the product.
  • Defines the user stories for the product, owns product backlog and prioritization of the items in it.
  • Elaborate stories, acceptance criteria, embracing lean, test driven development, agile practices.
  • Defines and documents the product’s release strategy.
  • Sequences user stories based on their contribution to the business’ strategic goals.
  • Can change user stories and their sequencing prior to every sprint.
  • Leads the team planning during program increment planning sessions.
  • Is responsible for the approval of changes to the release plan and sprint plans.
  • Decides whether or not to move forward with the product, accepting or rejecting user stories.
  • Defect management.
  • Responsible for providing status details to the Capability Manager.
  • Serves as the overall leader of the squad and therefore leads rituals such as daily standup, iteration planning, scoping sessions and retrospectives, along with ensuring any blockers are removed.
  • Responsible for the breakdown of new requirements to ensure lean delivery.
  • Provide an active role in mitigating impediments impacting successful team completion of Release/Sprint Goals.
  • Collaborate and communicate continuously, effectively and directly, with engineers, designers, business stakeholders, BA’s, SME’s and testers.
