Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, conduct, coordinate and facilitate the clinical education components of the PTA program.
  • Assess and summarize the effectiveness of the clinical education program using survey and other data with the assistance of the Program Director as needed.
  • Advise clinical supervisors in performing competency-based clinical evaluations.
  • Assist clinical supervisors in maintaining professional competence and improving skills related to student instruction and clinical education.
  • Assist program director in the assessment of program effectiveness and student preparation.
  • Assist program director in the revision of policies and procedures.
  • Communicate with clinical faculty as needed to meet the needs of the student, facility, and program.
  • Assist in the orientation of new faculty members and clinical supervisors.
  • Visit clinical affiliates as needed to meet student/program needs.
  • Initiate new site affiliation agreements and maintain clinical site availability to meet the needs of the program.
  • Ensure that clinical affiliation agreements are current as required by the accrediting agency.
  • Pursue continuing education in professional practice and instructional delivery as needed to maintain professional competency.
  • Integrate clinical education with didactic and laboratory instruction as part of the curriculum to meet the needs of the student and accreditation goals.
  • Meet with clinical staff and students during scheduled site visits to facilitate and document students' clinical progress.
  • Coordinate mastery level testing of students’ clinical performance.
  • Maintain student record related to clinical.
  • Coordinate appropriate clinical site placement of students.
  • Monitor current trends in health care, reimbursement, and legal practices and revise clinical education programming in response to these trends.
  • Maintain records of communications with the clinical education site.
  • Establish and implement procedures to respond to student performance deficiencies and concerns.
  • Assess and develop the preparedness of each student for the clinical education experience.
  • Teach assigned curricular content.
  • Maintain active participation in professional organization.
