  • Must have a clear understanding of, and ability to work with, construction contract commercial documents, drawings and specifications.
  • Must be fully computer literate and able to utilize computer technology to access data, maintain records, generate reports, etc. and any project specific engineering and construction relevant software.
  • Should be a chartered quantity surveyor i.e. MRICS.
  • Must be fluent in English both written and spoken with an excellent capability in written technical skills as well as oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the SQS/Contracts Manager in all matters relating to the financial and contractual aspects of the project.
  • Provide support to the SQS/Contracts Manager on all financial and contractual matters throughout the course of the work in the project.
  • Participate and assist in the preparation of the minutes in all commercial meetings as required.
  • Liaise with the SQS/Contracts Manager to ensure prompt submittal and completeness of Contractors monthly payment applications and assist the SQS/Contracts Manager in finalizing the payment certificates, performing, and checking of measurement of Work for: a) Interim Payments, b) Work executed against Provisional Sums and c) Variations.
  • Maintain and streamline all cost and quantity records.
  • Undertake measurement procedures and calculation of interim and final quantities in consultation with SQS/Contract manager.
  • Evaluate the unit rates for new work items, recording the details and monitoring the day works process, assisting in preparing variation orders and in evaluating claims and present to the SQS/Contracts Manager for review.
  • Assist in the evaluation and recommendation of entitlement of Contractors claims for review and issuance by the SQS/Contracts Manager.
  • Assist on contractual matters related to financial issues.
  • Ensure completeness and validity of all contractual requirements.
  • Assist the SQS in the preparation of financial statements for monthly report.
  • Assist in the auditing of payments to Contractors as required.
  • Check and record measurements of completed work.
  • Monitor contract final cost estimate.
  • Assist in the preparation of Final Account with all supporting documentation.
