Responsibilities

  • The role involves a large clinical component which includes general help and assisting the Sonographer/Radiologist throughout the patients Ultrasound examination.
  • The daily role involves escorting patients in and out of the examination rooms and preparing the patient for the Ultrasound examination. This involves assisting with moving and handling of the patients who are immobile in a manner that is safe for all concerned.
  • You will be asked to chaperone patients, offering reassurance and staying in attendance with difficult patients and intimate examinations.
  • An important part of the role involves caring for the patients during and following interventional ultrasound procedures, which includes preparing trolleys and conducting aseptic technique whilst caring for the patient.
  • There is an element of administrative tasks to include registering the patient, updating patient records, bookings, extraction of work lists and all other associated RIS activities. Answering and dealing with telephone calls is a daily task.
  • You will be responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness of clinical equipment/ultrasound rooms, to minimise the spread of infection. You will also be required to monitor and order stock within the department.
  • The role is varied and you will be expected to help in all of the above areas.
