What is the role of a Recreation Therapist BSO?
The Recreation Therapist BSO plays a critical role in enhancing the lives of residents by providing and assessing recreational therapy activities, developing individualized plans of care, and promoting collaborative participation in programs.
What qualifications are required for this position?
Candidates must have a university degree in Recreation/Leisure Studies or Health Sciences with a post-graduate degree in Therapeutic Recreation, be a member in good standing with Therapeutic Recreation Ontario (TRO), and have at least three years of experience working with seniors.
Is there a requirement for ongoing professional development?
Yes, ongoing professional development is required both personally and professionally in relation to therapeutic recreation, as well as staying current with industry trends.
What kind of experience is necessary for applicants?
Applicants must have a minimum of three years’ experience working with seniors according to the qualifications outlined under MDS-RAI guidelines.
Are there any background checks required for applicants?
Yes, all applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check.
Will I be responsible for managing a team?
Yes, the Recreation Therapist BSO participates in the recruitment, selection, orientation, development, and performance management of Recreation Department team members.
Is this position full-time or part-time?
