Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Manager, the Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) practices independently within their scope of practice when the patient(s) condition indicates predictable outcome.
  • The RPN delivers nursing care based on a pre-set plan of care with a delineated range of intervention.
  • Collaboration and direction is required from the RN in situations that are beyond the scope of complexity designated to the RPN.
  • You will be part of a busy inpatient department.
  • The delivery care model is Team Nursing with a staffing mix of both RN’s and RPN’s.
  • In addition, the RPN’s perform a variety of duties to assist the team, in accordance with the scope of practice and standards set by the hospital, Regulated Health Professionals Act and the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • In this role, you will provide high quality nursing care to patients and their families, based on the philosophy and conceptual framework of Nursing Practice at Scarborough Health Network (SHN).
  • You may be scheduled at the General or Birchmount campus based on departmental needs.
