Requirements

  • - Candidate will be a diploma graduate of a recognized college or school of nursing or equivalent (i.e., certificate RPN with added courses in medication administration, phlebotomy, and health assessment)
  • - Current certification or eligibility for certification of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario is required.
  • - A physical assessment course preferred
  • - Obstetrical experience required
  • - Obstetrical certificate from an accredited institution preferred
  • - Current BCLS required
  • - Breastfeeding course preferred
  • - Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification required
  • - Previous experience in providing and delivering patients and families with educational teaching as applicable
  • - Demonstrates excellence in communication skills and team work
  • - Demonstrates strong attention to patient and family-centred care and establishing therapeutic relationships
  • - Evidence of on-going professional development preferred
  • - Computer literacy required
  • - Able to work all shifts (11.25 hour shifts)
  • - A positive work and attendance record is essential

Responsibilities

  • - Provide nursing care to patients in the Mother Baby Unit.
  • - Collaborate with other healthcare team members to ensure comprehensive care.
  • - Educate patients and families about health management and care plans.
  • - Perform nursing assessments and document care provided.
  • - Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
  • - Support and promote breastfeeding and neonatal care.
  • - Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
  • - Participate in quality improvement initiatives and professional development.
