What qualifications are required for the Registered Practical Nurse position?
Candidates must have current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) with the College of Nurses of Ontario, a Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate, a Medication Administration Certificate, and a minimum of one year of experience in Geriatric Nursing, Healthcare, and/or Rehabilitation as an RPN.
What responsibilities will I have as a Registered Practical Nurse?
Responsibilities include preparing and administering prescribed medications, documenting client concerns, promoting self-care and wellness, completing assessments and care plans, supporting unregulated care workers, and performing other assigned duties.
Is there a requirement for a background check?
Yes, all applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check, and successful candidates must also meet police check and tuberculosis screening requirements.
Are there any preferred qualifications for this position?
Bonus points are given for having post-graduate studies in Geriatrics and Nursing Administration.
Will I receive training or guidance in this role?
Yes, you will be supporting and providing guidance, direction, training, and education to unregulated care workers.
