This position is funded by An Comhairle um Oideachas Gaeltachta & Gaelscolaíochta (COGG) and is available from 15th April 2025 to contract end date of 12th Jun 2025.
Reading for meaning is essential to participation in the social, leisure, and work activities.
In the case of children attending Irish medium education, learning to reading in two languages is one of the main academic achievements.
It involves complex relationships between child’s language skills, the context in which they learn languages and reading instruction in school.
This study is introducing a novel reading assessment that assesses reading comprehension, reading accuracy, and reading speed in Irish and English for children age 8+.
The study is conducted by Dr. Stanislava Antonijevic – Elliott from the University of Galway and Dr. Maria Garaffa from the University of East Anglia, UK.
Salary: Research Assistant salary scale €31,962 to €41,943 per annum, (subject to the project’s funding limitations), and pro rata for shorter and/or part-time contracts.
The default position for all new public sector appointments is the 1st point of the salary scale.
This may be reviewed, and consideration afforded to appointment at a higher point on the payscale (subject to the project’s funding limitations), where evidence of prior years’ equivalent experience is accepted in determining placement on the scale above point 1, subject to the maximum of the scale.
