Requirements

  • Master's degree in Exercise Physiology or related field (Kinesiology, Rehabilitation Medicine).
  • Must have an understanding of and experience with applied research methods and practices
  • Minimum 1-2 years experience in a clinical setting or the equivalent demonstrated combined coordination/administrative experience in a health-related field. Previous project management experience is a significant asset.
  • Excellent quantitative research skills (research skills using internet and libraries, data collection, analysis and dissemination).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, especially with respect to empathy and engagement with vulnerable clinical populations, and be able to work cohesively with team members from various disciplines including clinicians.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and communication (written and verbal) skills, and high attention to detail.
  • Able to work independently and as a team member, and able to perform well in a setting that requires multitasking and a flexible work schedule.
  • Proficient in using information systems and programs including bibliographic management software (e.g. EndNote), and Microsoft Office Suite software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
  • Research experience with exercise testing and training is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Identify funding opportunities, coordinate grant applications, and prepare consent forms, ethics submissions, and regulatory applications.
  • Review and refine research protocols and study materials.
  • Implement and refine study protocols, communicating procedures and changes to stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage study timelines and budgets, ensuring compliance with Tri-Council Policy Statement guidelines.
  • Update the PI on study progress and coordinate site activities.
  • Data Collection, Management, and Analysis, including recruiting participants, designing study/project database applications, participating in data collection and analysis, and writing and editing manuscripts, abstracts and reports.
  • Coordinate meetings with research team members and stakeholders, preparing and distributing minutes, updates, and reports.
  • Communicate with finance personnel and funding agencies regarding funding changes.
  • Orient new team members to research routines and ethics procedures, and assist in their professional development.
  • Assist in professional development of team members, providing feedback on research skills and performance.
