Requirements

  • Requires strong customer service skills.
  • Requires effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Requires the ability to deal with confidential patient information.
  • Requires basic computer skills and ability to work in EMR.
  • Requires a basic knowledge of infection control procedure.
  • Requires the ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams to insure optimal patient care.
  • Requires strong organizational skills.
  • Requires current enrollment in a CoARC (Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care) and regionally accredited respiratory care program.
  • Requires current active Respiratory Student Permit from the state of Indiana.
  • Requires Healthcare Provider BLS Certification.

Responsibilities

  • vOur RTA positions give Respiratory students an opportunity to get hand-on experience in a clinical setting. These positions include starting and discontinuing therapies for patients, learning about patient record keeping, and learning how to properly utilize Respiratory Therapy equipment.
  • In addition to gaining clinical knowledge and experience, our RTAs are uniquely positioned to move into official Registered Respiratory Therapy roles at Indiana University Health. These team members get an outstanding opportunity to experience all the different ways Respiratory Therapists impact patient lives for the better.
  • Outside of working with state-of-the-art technology and eOur RTA positions give Respiratory students an opportunity to get hand-on experience in a clinical setting.
