Requirements

  • Graduate from a recognized post-secondary program (i.e. Office Administration, Business Administration, Human Resource Management, Industrial Engineering, etc.) required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience using a scheduling system (or equivalent) in a unionized environment required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience building and optimizing schedules, including Master Rotations required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of financial, statistical, or reporting experience preferred.
  • A combination of equivalent education and experience may be considered.
  • Demonstrated use and application of collective agreement language required.
  • Certificate or experience in Rotation Optimization preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook) required.
  • Knowledge and experience working in health care (clinical or non-clinical settings) required.
  • Demonstrated facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated Change Management skills including an ability to develop workable implementation plans as well as building commitment and overcoming resistance.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Demonstrated strong leadership, interpersonal, and team-building skills.
  • Competencies in other languages are an asset.

Responsibilities

  • - Provides consultation and presents options to managers that influence the implementation of rotation management techniques to optimize resource utilization.
  • - Responsible for analyzing current rotations.
  • - Reviews the unit's historical leave data and current fiscal leave entitlement.
  • - Reviews budgeted FTEs to create and recommend optimized rotations.
  • - Determines the ratio of full-time to part-time positions required for a unit.
  • - Determines the required breakdown of part-time FTEs.
  • - Assesses the amount of regularized relief that is required to support a unit and maintain a sustainable rotation.
  • - Reviews, plans, and builds optimized rotations with input from the manager.
  • - Facilitates change and advises on best practices with input from various stakeholders to achieve optimal results.
